Horatio Hornblower is the titular character of a series of novels and short stories by C.S. Forester. The stories follow Hornblower's career in the British Navy, from Midshipman to Admiral; they begin in the late 18th century and continue through the Napoleanic wars and beyond. Some of the novels have been adapted to movie form by A&E; to date eight have been released, and more are expected in the near future.
